Barsh’s work was back at the GRAMMYs this year, winning the award for Best Rap Album and a nomination for Album of the Year for Kendrick Lamar’s “To Pimp a Butterfly.” The album was also certified Platinum in the USA and Gold in the UK.
Sam’s recent songwriting credits include 4 straight top-5 albums on the Billboard R&B and Hip-Hop charts: Anderson Paak’s critically-acclaimed album “Malibu,” Ty Dolla $ign’s “Free T.C.”, Logic’s “The Incredible True Story” and BJ the Chicago Kid’s “In My Mind.” He also wrote songs for recent releases by Raury and Shana Halligan.
Outside of the studio, Barsh has stayed active as a performer. Recent show highlights include the Montreal Jazz Festival with Dontae Winslow and Winslow Dynasty, Kamasi Washington’s special project “65-92: The Rhythm Changes but the Struggle Remains,” and Los Angeles-area performances with Miguel-Atwood Ferguson, Gen8r, Palter Ego and his own trio.
